A visit of the Senegalese TV to the Chair of African Languages and Cultures

On November 3, 2022, the Chair of African Languages ​​and Cultures, University of Warsaw, was visited by Mr. Abdoulaye Cissé – a journalist from Télé Futurs Médias from Senegal. The visit took place in connection with the implementation by Senegalese television of the government mission aimed at filming materials about Poland for a wide audience in their country. This activity is related to the planned revival of Polish-Senegalese cooperation in the economic and cultural spheres, the prelude of which was the recent visit of the President of the Republic of Poland, Andrzej Duda and his wife to the Republic of Senegal.

Mr. Abdoulaye Cissé met with the staff of the Chair who deal with West Africa – Dr. Izabela Will and Patryk Zając, M.A. as well as with the Swahili lecturer John Maritn Okoth, M.A. and with the librarian Iwona Bebrysz, M.A.. During the meeting, the history of the Chair and its library resources were presented. The Senegalese journalist had the opportunity to talk to students of African studies and attend a class. At the end of the meeting, he received a gift bag with the Chairs’s logo and the staff’s books in French.
