Conference “African Languages and Cultures from Diverse Perspectives”, 2024
We have a pleasure to invite you to International Conference “African Languages and Cultures from Diverse Perspectives” which will be held on April 15th, 2024 in Warsaw, Poland.
The Chair of African Languages and Cultures, Faculty of Oriental Studies, at the University of Warsaw invites submission of abstracts for an international conference. The conference aims at exchanging ideas on various aspects of modern research within African Studies. Scholars from different disciplines are welcome to share their contributions on a range of topics related to African linguistics, literary studies, history and anthropology. The language of the conference is English. There is no registration fee, but the participants are expected to cover their expenses.
We encourage to submit proposals of presentations on any topic related to research on African languages and cultures:
- Linguistic structures and usage patterns
- Discourse and communication, including new media
- Cultural keywords and values
- Grammaticalization processes
- Expression of emotions
- Gestures and sign languages
- Various literary genres, including proverbs and riddles
- Translation and second language teaching
- Cultural anthropology
- Postcolonial studies
Accepted papers will be allocated a 30-minute time slot: 20 minutes for the presentation and 10 minutes for discussion.

Abstracts should not exceed 400 words excluding references. Abstracts should be in English.
