New Trends in African Languages and Cultures 2025
We have the pleasure to invite you to the Colloquium “New Trends in African Languages and Cultures” which will be held at the University of Warsaw on 27 May 2025.
The colloquium will take place during Africa Days organized by the Chair of African Languages and Cultures (Faculty of Oriental Studies, University of Warsaw).
We aim to provide a platform for exchanging ideas on various aspects of modern research within African Studies to encourage intellectual dialogue, collaboration, and mentorship to support emerging scholars. The language of the meeting is English.
We encourage, especially young scholars, and students of MA and PhD programs, to submit abstracts on any topic related to African linguistics, literary studies, history, and African anthropology, such as
-
linguistic structures and usage patterns
-
discourse and communication, including new media
-
endangered languages and language policy
-
cultural keywords and cultural values
-
foreign culture’s impact on African societies
Accepted proposals will be allocated a 30-minute time slot: 20 minutes for the presentation and 10 minutes for discussion.

Abstracts should not exceed 400 words excluding references. Abstracts should be in English.
Abstracts submission deadline: March 31st, 2025
Notification of acceptance: April 15th, 2025
