Mr. Joseph Jaoko Ochieng

In March/Arpil 2025 our Chair has the pleasure of hosting Mr. Joseph Jaoko Ochieng, a fourth-year Ph.D. student of Linguistics at Eötvös Loránd University in Budapest.
Born and raised in Kenya, he began his academic journey at Maseno University and the University of Nairobi, where he earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Linguistics. His research focuses on Cognitive and Cultural Linguistics, specifically on cultural embodiment. In his doctoral research, he explores the cultural models of the figurative extensions of body parts in his native language, Dholuo.
On the 8th of April on 1:15 PM in our Chair (room 327) Mr. Obeng will deliver a lecture entitiled “Metaphorical euphemisms of HIV/AIDS discourse in Dholuo” to which everybody is cordially invited.
